There is a partly natural and partly artificial system of two and three-level cellars winding beneath the Buda Castle.
The upper level consists of 3-8-meter deep isolated cavities, whilst there are individual and a network of cellars in the lower level. The small caves were connected to each other and also to the cellaragé of the houses of the Castle District for economic and military.
The Budapest riot police and forces of the authority acting for the Hungarian State raided the Labyrinth of Buda Castle and simply forced the large number of Hungarian and foreign visitors to leave the exhibition spaces, closing down the Labyrinth. Because of the brutality of the action, many tourists believed that a terrorist attack had occurred.
